Ch-ch-ch-ch-chikezie!!!

WOW. I just did some searching and found out the Chikezie got booted.

It's funny... do a google search for american idol results and you get dinky websites from out of nowhere.

I have to admit it though, I'm a bit shocked. I guess that it is sometimes hard for me to put aside my personal feelings and "think like the audience". In hindsight, I can see that this might be a case of the other contestants having stronger support, whether it be from www.votefortheworst.com or whatever.

overall thoughts on tonight's show

Ok so I have to admit the David Cook killed it but I wouldn't be surprised if he ripped that arrangement off someone. However, it was easily best of the night.

To summarize, pretty boring show again tonight even though I think this year has tonnes of talent.

Bottom three, Ramiele, Kristy and the third might be a surprise such as Brooke. I'd like to think Kristy is going home but the yanks are so patriotic they might not send her home. I think Ramiele might be sent home because she went first.

Are you kidding me

Kristy Lee Cook is proud to be an American.. I can't believe she did that song. She must be half brain dead. Big note at the end might save her again this week though.

What's crazy though is that she is still around. I guess being in the bottom so often has made her mentally tougher than some of the other customers.

David Cook, aka the douche is up and I heard on the radio he's doing Billy Jean. Although I can't him, I bet he's going to kill it.

what the f

David Archuleta is a favorite of mine to win but not a good song choice at all for him.

He should be killing it consistently at this point. Also he has negative dance moves, which means he would actually dance better if he didn't even move. Simon's ending comment about being surprised if he actually picked the song, coupled with his extreme dislike of the performance might have been a dig at David's dad, rumored to be a bit of a Joe Simpson.

MJ and Carly....

MJ pulled it out, exactly as he needed to. I'm actually shocked at how well he can sing. I don't really watch much until the top 16 or so I had never thought he was much other than a good looking guy who could sing moderately well. He might have a future in the music business.

Carly was good, as usual. The big Carly back story is that she was under contract back in the early part of this century under the name Carly Hennessy. So I have a hard time watching her on Idol because she is expected to be a professional.

... Archuleta is up

Two more, towards the door

Chikezie wasn't that great but he can still sing and will stick around for a few more weeks.

Brooke White screwed up the start of her song, that's a no no, even if you're David Archuleta. I felt her performance was kinda rushed a bit and she's good but she shouldn't hide behind the piano. Oh-kay.

But I hate when the show drags like this... it's what I hate most about these first rounds. It gets so much better around the top 6.

Michael Johns and Carly are up next... this should be interesting. MJ needs to pull up his socks or he could be in the bottom three.

PS. watching the ad with the new Madonna song. Gotta be the worst song out there right now. Can't stand it. Reeks of every other song Timba has touched and even if he didn't, it's got his sound all over it.

Three and out

Ok so Ramiela was pretty good. Good song choice for her I thought because I think that you need to really push yourself and that song showed the audience that she can really sing if she tries.

Jason Castro was same as always... he's good but Idol might just not be his thing.

S'yesha was good, she has a great voice.

Chikezie is up next. He's going to rock it.

Color me me unimpressed...

Prince Paul is wondering if it's ok that he is cheering hardest for somebody to do badly. Whereas I want David Archuleta to do well, he wants David Cook to do horribly and get voted off.

Overall, he's not overly impressed and find himself feeling slightly underwhelmed.

And We All Shine On...

Well, the McRib is back.

Paul is sitting here waiting for someone to step and sing "Instant Karma".

We were all surprised by the judges reactions to Sey'sha and by the fact that we've seen the Macbook Air commercial about fifteen times so far. It was good the first time, now it's just annoying.

This just in from Camp Ali...

"These guys are all homosexuals, there is not a single one of them that will ever be a music star."

Hernandez is OUT

I have to admit, I was surprised to see David Hernandez go.

I'm sure the producers were happy because of all the controversy surrounding his past... which if you don't know about, was all over tmz.com.

I really thought he was going to go far... which makes me wonder about our friend David Archuleta. His performance wasn't very good and now there are reports that his father is a horror show ala Joe Simpson.

Anyways, good luck in the future David.

Comments on last night...

I just spent some time re-watching the performances last night... and I have to say that last night's show was great. What makes this show so good is that on any night, people will step and pull out huge performances.

Brooke White, Carly Smithson and Chikezie pull it out huge. Brooke did "Let it Be", one of the best songs ever written and did well but should have gotten up from the piano for the last chorus.

I thought Chikezie's reworking of "she's a woman" was amazing. Watch how Ryan Seacrest reacts. He's a nutter.

Jason Castro, David Cook and Syesha Mercado were also pretty good. Amanda Obermeyer was also good but Michael Johns wasn't so great.

Now David Archuleta was not strong at all last night. Which makes me say that he is an american idol winner... I'm just not sure if he can win THIS season. I'm not sure that he's mature or confident enough in his skin to win. He was really akward last night and I don't know that he can do anything but the sappy emotional stuff.

Seems like Kristy Lee Cook is going home. I thought she should have gone last week but oh well. David Hernandez might also find himself in the bottom as well.

I think a few of the strong people surprised themselves with bad performances this week so watch out for next week.

Top 12 tonight

Ok. So it's really on now. The top 12 sees the contestants moving onto the main AI set. The audience is bigger and the judges are right in front of you.

This is where people will start to choke.

I think the guys are a lot stronger right now but they will have to prove that tonight.

Hopefully, Jason Castro shows up tonight and I'm excited to see what David Archuleta does.

In Conclusion...

Lukas is going home but that leaves the other spot open as only 6 are moving on. So the question is: Who was the second worst tonight?

That just might have to be Danny Noriega. Too bad, his arrangement of "Tainted Love" was banging. Great song.

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

I dunno

Unfortunately, Chikezie didn't bring it for me. What's with the guys doing songs like Whitney and Celine. Those are songs very few on the girls side will even take on. Bad choices.

Five, Six and Seven.

Michael Johns: great song, bad choice for him.

David Cook was alright, but I wasn't really feeling it. Great song choice though. Lionel is a genius and so many of his song are great. It could be a single right now because it's an amazing song. He saved himself tonight.

Jason Castro killed it. That was also an unbelievable song but it looks like he be outback "relaxing" before his performance.

The Next Two

Danny Noriega was ok.

Dave Hernandez was good too... but someone needs to really bring it.

The First Two

Luke's out.

David was consistent. He's going far.

Idol Update

It's go time tonight on AI.

Watch for huge performances from the two Daves.

Archuleta needs to prove he can be consistent. If he does, he'll be in the top 5 for sure if not win the whole thing.

Hernandez has had a bad day in the press. Now he needs to go out and prove he deserves to stay. The audience loves him and appeals to both sides. Remember, it's all about how many votes you get at this stage in the competition.

Also, watch to see if Chikezie does MJ.
