I enjoy meeting people in person so here's a list of events I attend if you're in and around the Ottawa area.
The idea for this comes from the fact that I often ask people what events they go to when I meet them. If there are any events you think I should attend, contact me.
Social Media Breakfast (SMBOttawa). Monthly meeting for those interested in social media. Held in the early mornings and includes ample time for networking and COFFEE.
Ignite! Ignite is all about people sharing their passion for any subject they want. We saw presentations on topics ranging from Ottawa's animation industry to organizing civil action. Presenters are given 5 minutes and 20 slides maximum to say what they have to say. This event happens after work and is rather informal and fun. I had a great time.
Case Study Jam: Another event that is more informal than formal is Case Study Jam. It happens about once a month after work and has a different format than most other events. For one, we are presented with real world cases that demonstrate a social media win, work in progress and fail. After the short presentations, we break up into small groups and talk to the presenters. Great way to meet people in an informal way and the food at Foolish Chicken is great!
OCRI Zone5: OCRI puts on many events but this one is geared towards marketers. I have been to only one of these so far but it was really good. Happens once a month at the lunch hour and includes a great buffet lunch and networking opportunities.
GenYOTT: I have only been to one of these events so far but they are really fun. Very informal, well attended and a great place to meet lots of well connected people.
